Popular window and door colour trends of 2023
January 29, 2024 | Blog | Written by Nicola Harrison
Knowing which colour is best for your timber window frames and timber entrance doors can be a difficult decision. So, in this blog we’re looking back over the last 12 months to see which pantone choices reigned supreme in 2023.
As we embark on a brand new year, we also thought this created a fantastic opportunity to share our thoughts on what window colour choices we believe will be trending in 2024. Keep reading to find out more.
What was the most popular colour for a timber window frame in 2023?
To help answer this question, we’ve analysed our window sales data from 2023 to identify which colour was picked most often by UK homeowners for their brand new timber windows.
Our research shows that white windows was the top choice, closely followed by neutral tones like cream and parchment. While it was no longer the front runner, grey window frames still made the top three.
We also found that light pine stain was the most popular choice with 75% of our customers, who opted for a more natural look, choosing this finish over chestnut, pine, cherry and mahogany.
Browse a wide selection of window colours with Bereco
At Bereco, we want to ensure our customers can choose a window colour that perfectly reflects their personal style and so we offer RAL Classic, RAL Design, NCS and BS colour charts. We can even match to the Farrow & Ball, Earthborn or Fired Earth collections.
From our experience, white frames have always been a popular choice for homeowners up and down the country but one of the many beauties of working with wood is that you can be incredibly adventurous in your choice of colour.
To guarantee homeowners can create custom timber windows, we also offer single or dual colour options so that the interior frame can complement the interior décor, without impacting the external façade.
Driven to deliver quality products of the highest standard, every window we supply has been factory finished using the most environmentally friendly water-based paint or stain.
The most popular timber front door colours in 2023
As a supplier of timber windows and doors, we also explored our wooden door data to uncover the most popular paints our customers picked in 2023. Again, just like our windows, white was selected the most against any other colour.
However, a closer look revealed that some homeowners want to make more of a statement, particularly with their entrance door. It showed that variations of the colour grey were chosen many times, alongside black. Whereas wine red, soft blue, pink and French green were among the other colours selected.
Similarly to our windows, we offer a wide range of stains and finishes for our full collection of timber doors so our customers can create a door design that’s completely unique to their home.
Bereco’s window and door colour predictions for 2024
Our in-house experts are predicting that things will start to change slightly over the next 12 months with the majority believing that earthy tones will grow in popularity in 2024.
Although grey will continue to be a top colour choice for many homeowners, we’re confident there will be a shift. This is because we’re beginning to see more people move towards greeny/beigey greys and French greens as opposed to the previously popular steel grey tones.
Could stain finishes also make a comeback in 2024? We’ve noted that some of our customers are going for the natural look a little more than usual.
What is the 2024 pantone of the year?
With the 2024 Pantone Colour of the Year recently revealed as ‘Peach Fuzz’, we’re intrigued to see what impact this is likely to have on UK home and interior trends over the next 12 months.
Described as a velvety gentle peach tone radiant with warmth and modern elegance, will we see ‘Peach Fuzz’ become the window colour of choice this year or will it be used more often for the entranceway of homes?
How else can I customise my timber windows and doors?
Don’t forget that there are other unique ways that you can customise your new timber windows and doors. While you can make a statement with a bold pantone choice, you can also add a touch of elegance with the style of handles and stays you select.
