The renovation journey for this stunning property began in May 2023. Situated in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB), the home required thoughtful design to blend seamlessly with the surrounding landscape. Originally a 1920s house, it was rebuilt from the ground up in 2001 and then expanded in 2016, which exhausted its development rights. However, a shift in planning allowed the new homeowners, who purchased the property in June 2021, to pursue an extension and complete a full remodel.
The existing sliding sash windows, imported from a supplier outside of the UK in 2001, were of good quality, so the homeowners sought to source the best quality windows available for their extension. They began discussions with their architect, who first proposed using Crittall windows. The homeowners, acting as the main designers, decided on a classic and timeless Georgian aesthetic maintaining the traditional sash style.
Friends who had previously installed Bereco windows recommended us, leading them to connect with Ian Dear, our Sales Manager for the South East. As they were looking for the best possible quality, they opted for our Supply & Installation Service to ensure their premium timber windows and doors were fitted to the highest possible standards, maximising their performance and lifespan. For the windows themselves, they chose our Traditional Sliding Sash Spiral Balance windows featuring internal ovolo mouldings, external putty line style design and 16mm lambs tongue bars all manufactured from our premium engineered timber. The home’s white quoins (a distinct cornerstone detail along the sides of the walls) paired beautifully with the Pure White RAL 9010 finish.

Building Regulations required a push-and-twist vent lock to specific windows on the Front elevation, restricting the opening to 100mm. Liking the look and added safety, the homeowners decided to apply this feature across all windows for a cohesive look.
Polished Nickel ironmongery was chosen for a more modern feel, as the homeowners felt Polished Brass would appear too mature for their age. Polished Nickel offered a fresh look that would age gracefully over time.
One stand out feature that we particularly love is the dual floor bay with Traditional Flush French Doors on both ground and first floors, accompanied by full-height glazed sidelights either side. This design allows a beautiful abundance of natural light to pour into both the Dining area and Bedroom above.
Throughout the process, our client’s remarked on Bereco’s friendly and flexible approach. Starting with an initial consultation where our Design team provided overlays of the new windows and doors on their own drawings, we continued to refine their quotations until every detail met their expectations. Their dedicated Design Project Manager, Jarek, guided them through each stage to ensure the design and details were exactly as envisioned. The same team of in-house surveyors and skilled installers worked on-site, allowing them to fully familiarise themselves with the property and personally connect with the clients before the installation began.
