Double glazed whole window U-values as low as 1.2W/m²K

Studio Tashima, an architectural firm in London, has specified our products many times over the past few years, becoming quite familiar with our timber windows and doors. When designing for their clients in Highgate, London, they knew Bereco would be the perfect fit.

As a new build, the project needed to comply with the updated Building Regulations. Bereco windows and doors, third party accredited by Bluesky and compliant with PAS24, met these requirements. This ticked a lot of the boxes for Studio Tashima in addition to the client loving our product. Despite starting the designs in September 2020, the build itself took 14 months, with completion delayed until February 2023 due to planning issues.

The brief had been set by the architect’s client to achieve a design that is contemporary yet with connections to traditional architecture and a strong emphasis on sustainability. Here at Bereco, our mission has and always will be to supply sustainable, beautifully bespoke timber windows and doors that do not cost the earth, and to be naturally renewable and energy efficient. We can achieve incredible U-values as low as 1.2W/m2k with double glazing as standard.

All the Flush Casement windows and Entrance Doors within Highgate are externally painted RAL 8019 Brown Grey, chosen for its dark hue that isn’t as harsh as black, adding a natural softness. Some windows have a dual colour finish with RAL 9001 Cream on the internal for a more natural feel, complimenting the Brown Grey perfectly.

A standout feature is the incredible arched window in the kitchen, which commands the room, while framing a cluster of cypress trees. This majestic window stands 3.3m tall, split into two parts with side hung openers on the bottom and fixed sashes on the top. The internal finish is Farrow & Ball No. 79 Card Room Grey, which pairs beautifully with the trees outside and the finishes and colours inside.

Throughout the property, Antique Brass was chosen for the ironmongery due to its delicate appearance, which suited the home’s aesthetics better than the bright Polished Brass. The Bulb End handles and stay bars on the windows needed an elegant feel, which the Antique Brass provided perfectly.

We replaced the window that our designers and construction team had ordered from Potton as it was far too high and small. I ordered a much bigger window direct from Bereco. They were extremely helpful and kept in touch regularly, helping us by bringing the date forward as we needed the replacement window urgently to allow work to progress.
The window fitted perfectly. It was of a very good quality and I am really pleased I decided to order a bigger one.

At all stages throughout the process of getting information, getting a quotation and dealing with queries, placing the order and organising delivery the staff were very polite, clear and professional.
The product arrived safely and has been admired by local skilled timber craftsmen.

A really good company to deal with. Very helpful team of people from sales, technical support and delivery. Any time I called, I did not have to wait to speak to the right person and help was immediate. So not only great customer service but also terrific products, well designed and exact fit. Competitively priced.

Simon Hazelton

Beautifully constructed windows which do the job perfectly. Handled Covid disruption effectively. Installation went smoothly. All in all a job very well done. Would recommend without reservation.

Phil

Visited the showroom last year and impressed with the finish and quality. Just as delighted with the windows and back door that we ordered. They look fabulous.
