Originally a modest cottage built in the 1950s, this property is set along the extended grounds of a Castle and the Castle Stables, originally built for the Bishop of Winchester, and situated near the scenic St. Swithun’s Way.
The renovation journey for David & Tracy began well before they purchased their property in late 2021. They knew that extensive updates would be required to transform it into their family’s dream home. Fortunately, they encountered no planning hurdles, allowing them to proceed smoothly with the renovatiosn.
Their neighbours had just completed their own renovation and highly recommended Bereco for the front door. Inspired by the decorative door design with a central circular panel and moulding from our website, the homeowners immediately envisioned it for their own entrance! The design also incorporates Bolection moulding, a decorative moulding which projects outward from the panel or frame, creating a distinctive and striking element. With a wide front door opening, they sought to maximise natural light and opted for sidelights to complement the door design. The elegant fishtail pattern in the sidelights was also inspired by a design on our website, where we feature it on a fanlight above a door.

The Anthracite Grey RAL 7016 finish was chosen to complement the home’s Agate Grey windows while adding a striking focal point that enhances the overall exterior. Inside, the client’s existing black forged window handles influenced their choice of Rumbled Pewter ironmongery, including the escutcheon, large centre door knob and Pewter letter plate, which add a beautifully aged look to the entrance.
David & Tracy have expressed they were delighted with the design process led by their dedicated Design Project Manager, Jarek, who thoughtfully guided them through various designs to ensure the final door design matched their vision.
