This house situated in the historic market town of Reigate, in south east Surrey whilst a good shape was quite heavy on the eye from the exterior and the layout of the house was quickly found to be unsuited to family life.
On the exterior Inappropriate casement window designs busy with applied lead and a mix of materials; bricks; render and tile cladding all made for a very busy first impression of this home. Back to Front Exterior Design have transformed this property not only on the exterior creating a traditional simple design but internally too with a contemporary living space for a growing family.
With the introduction of a few carefully chosen natural and sustainable materials including slate and timber the house had been transformed, a real-life ugly duckling story.

100% FSC Redwood timber sliding sash windows and timber doors all fully factory finished from Bereco timber windows have been fitted in place of the aged uPVC casement windows that were once featured here. With this, the home now boasts improved energy efficiency with u values of just 1.2W/m²K on the windows and 1.4W/m²K on the doors and real sustainability with all the wooden windows and doors having a proven life span in excess of 60 years meaning the Turpin’s won’t be replacing their new windows any time soon.
